Palawan Pawnshop placed 2nd on Higalaay Festival Float Parade

For two consecutive years, Palawan Pawnshop Palawan Express Pera Padala won second place in the float category of the recently held Higalaay Festival at the city of Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro.

Higalay Festival, derived its name from a Cebuano word “higala” meaning “friend”. The festival was celebrated every month of August in celebration of the city patron, St. Augustine. This year, the PPS PEPP float features a miniature of Cagayan de Oro City Hall, the City Cathedral Church, the cap of Gen. Douglas McArthur that can be seen in seaport of the city, Kalesa- the mode of transportation of the elderly people known as “lumad” and a motorcycle which according to history originate in the province before it was known to other provinces with the image of Patron St. Augustine upfront the flamboyant display. The deliberate concept of this year’s float intends to show off what was Cagayan de Oro, then and now.

Three pairs of Palawan Pawnshop associates wearing Lumad, Muslim and Christian attire waved ardently to the onlookers while others distribute flyers, candies and collectibles. Joining the parade for the third time and bagging two consecutive second place in float parade only indicates the company’s eagerness and willingness to participate in community events as to show how grateful it is for the love and patronization of all its Suki in Cagayan de Oro.
