Palawan Pawnshop placed 2nd on Higalaay Festival Float Parade

For twoconsecutive years, Palawan Pawnshop Palawan Express Pera Padala won secondplace in the float category of the recently held Higalaay Festival at the cityof Golden Friendship, Cagayan de Oro.

HigalayFestival, derived its name from a Cebuano word “higala” meaning “friend”. Thefestival was celebrated every month of August in celebration of the citypatron, St. Augustine. This year, the PPS PEPP float features a miniature ofCagayan de Oro City Hall, the City Cathedral Church, the cap of Gen. DouglasMcArthur that can be seen in seaport of the city, Kalesa- the mode oftransportation of the elderly people known as “lumad” and a motorcycle whichaccording to history originate in the province before it was known to otherprovinces with the image of Patron St. Augustine upfront the flamboyantdisplay. The deliberate concept of this year’s float intends to show off whatwas Cagayan de Oro, then and now.

 

Three pairsof Palawan Pawnshop associates wearing Lumad, Muslim and Christian attire wavedardently to the onlookers while others distribute flyers, candies andcollectibles. Joining the parade for the third time and bagging two consecutivesecond place in float parade only indicates the company’s eagerness andwillingness to participate in community events as to show how grateful it isfor the love and patronization of all its Suki in Cagayan de Oro.
